Southwell Lifts and Hoists designs reliable, easy-to-use lifting solutions for goods and passengers. This guide walks you through how to operate your Southwell hoist safely and efficiently, explains key features, outlines emergency procedures, and provides contact information for assistance.
1. Getting Started
Before using your hoist, familiarise yourself with the controls. Depending on your model, the control interface may differ:- Call the hoist by pressing either the up or down arrow, the blue or green button, or the destination level button.
- Wait for the hoist to arrive at your level before loading.
2. Loading the Hoist
- Carefully load your goods without blocking the doors or door sensors.
- Do not overload the hoist - check the load capacity plate for limits.
- Once loaded, you may enter the hoist yourself if the design allows.
3. Operating the Hoist
- Inside the hoist, press the up arrow, down arrow, or destination level button to move to your desired level.
- When you reach your destination, the doors will open automatically.
- Unload your goods promptly.
- Doors will close automatically, provided nothing is obstructing them.
4. Understanding the Control Panel
- On the outside control panel, the destination button light will flash while the hoist is in motion.
- If control panel buttons flash alternately and the hoist does not respond:
- Check that the emergency stop button hasn’t been pressed at any level.
- If pressed, pull it out fully to release.
5. What to Do in an Emergency
If something goes wrong:- Remain calm.
- Press the emergency stop button. This will stop and reset all functions.
- Pull the emergency stop button back out to release it.
- If the hoist still does not respond:
- Press and hold the “E” button to lower the hoist and automatically open the door, or
- Press and hold the emergency phone button for direct assistance.
6. Getting Help
For additional help, maintenance, or servicing:- Refer to your product manual.
